Now becoming active and making smarter travel choices in South Newbury can be rewarding.
During the summer of 2014, a personalised travel planning (PTP) pilot will be trialled across a 5000 residence area in South Newbury. The aim of the pilot is to motivate people to develop their own personal travel plans and to make more sustainable travel choices. Supporting this trial is the Reward Your World platform which includes a geographically localised and customised portal, iPhone and Android app.
West Berkshire Council Travel Advisors will be visiting homes to learn about current travel activities and requirements. To provide information about the trial and explain how to download a West Berks PTP-branded App, register for the programme and collect rewards. From the 9th of June, residents can go to www.rewardyourworld.com and register using just their name, email and post-code or download the App at the AppStore or on Google Play and then register on the App itself.
Once registered, Residents will be encouraged to choose reward-earning activities on the App such as taking the bus, car sharing, walking or cycling associated rewards will be automatically credited to their member account. Once the resident has earned rewards, they will be able to utilise the App or a reward code in local shops, clubs or café’s to get great money off or free offers such as a week free leisure pass or a round of golf.
Navtej Tung Transport Policy Officer of West Berkshire Council said “The South Newbury PTP pilot is now going to be more interesting and motivating to residents and we are pleased to be working with RYW” Dan Gipple, CEO of RYW also stated that “West Berks is now in a great position to see results as they happen in the pilot which is big step forward for how councils and residents work together to improve travel and transport in towns”
South Newbury shops and service providers can benefit from the programme by creating a profile and setting offers through coupons and vouchers. Support will be available from the Council for businesses wanting to take advantage of this new way to advertise.
West Berkshire Council will be able to ascertain detailed accurate results through a full set of live analytics including Heat Maps and GPS analysis of activities taken, rewards earned and rewards redeemed.
